The most common use is to determine the status of wisdom teeth and trauma to the jaws.
You should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your exam. You may be given a gown to wear during the procedure.
Metal objects including jewelry, eyeglasses, dentures and hairpins may affect the OPG images and should be left at home or removed prior to your exam. You may also be asked to remove hearing aids and removable dental work.
Base: The entire machine stands on the heave base plate for stability & support.
Column: It is a free standing vertical stand on which the carriage holding the OPG Mechanism moves.
Carriage:It moves up & down on the column according to patient’s height,with the help of a motor & foot switches.
The entire OPG movement rotates during OPG & TMJ x-rays.
Chin Rest: The patient has to rest his chinon the chin rest & hold the tooth bite between front teeth.
Tube Head: It houses the x-ray Tube,HT & filament Transformers etc.
Patient Positioning Lights: There are two lights. Light-A is for Alignment of patient & Light-B is forHorizontal & 3rd Molar Alignment of patient.
Mirror:It allows easy view of the patient during alignment while taking OPG or TMJ X-ray.

After the images are obtained, you can resume normal activities immediately.
